Pardos was the first diplomat to create a web site for an Embassy .The case was known world-wide especially when Internet was used in the Spanish -Canadian confrontation in the so called "turbot -war". Not only, the Ambassador Pardos is a pioneer of "Virtual Diplomacy", but also one of the board members of the ISOC, the "Internet Government" .  This encounter along with a  deep collaboration led to the creation of Diplomaticnet.

Aims

The various applications brought by the technological revolution in foreign policy sphere are being unproductive. As mentioned by  P.H. Smith, public affairs advisory at the US Embassy, London "when foreign policy becomes an instrument in the hands of better governance, it must adjust to new challenges in order to gain agility, relevancy and benefit from the opportunities provided by the technological revolution". The main objective of Diplomaticnet is thus to use new technologies in the benefit of dialogue, peace and sustainable development. In order to achieve these aims, here are our working guidelines:
  • Simplify the access to specialized information in foreign policy. Nowadays in the globalization process, information is everyday more and more valuable.
  • Facilitate communication and international dialogue through an open debate area. And as mentioned in the Unesco Charter, communication remains the best remedy for intolerance and armed conflicts.
